Head Teacher's Welcome

September 2019

I am very happy to formally welcome all our new families to our amazing school and welcome back our existing families after the Summer break. Thank you very much for all the kind wishes and gifts given to staff at the end of last academic year, we really appreciate your support.

We hope that you experience English Martyrs as the very special place we believe it to be at the heart of Catholic education. We are very proud of all our young people, and invite you to share in their learning journeys as they embark on a new path this year following closely in the footsteps of Jesus.

Our school has its foundation in the Gospel values. We are committed to Catholic education and we look forward to welcoming you to the Catholic life of the school where your child will be expected to participate fully in the spiritual life of the school with your support. Within our school we seek to create a supportive and friendly environment, where each child has the opportunity to develop spiritually, academically and socially.

Our school is a happy and secure place where children are encouraged to aim for the highest possible standards in all they do. We strive to develop open, co-operative and positive relationships between the home and the school with parents and carers becoming active partners in their children’s education. Where such relationships exist, then the best foundations for a true education have been laid and we recognise that the partnership we develop is important to the growth of your child. We hope that you can join us at times during the academic year to celebrate the wonderful learning that your child will be experiencing. Please come and see us if you have any questions about your child’s learning.

We have been getting the school ready for the children during the Summer holidays and would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff for their hard work. We have embarked on a whole school topic of the world in our hands and are excited to share new knowledge and skills with the children, watch out for our new curriculum pages on the website which will be uploaded during this term. They include websites for you to use with your children to support their learning in all subjects.

Finally, I will be sending out three dates for parents forum meetings during the year, parents are welcome to the meeting to discuss agenda items or post their ideas into the earmarked post box before the meeting if they are unable to attend. Feedback from the meetings will be published on the website. More information about this will follow.

Kind regards,

Alison Chambers
