Intent

Following the statutory guidance for RSHE and the diocesan toolkit, our intent is that all our children will:

Head

  • Know and understand that we are created and loved by God (this explores the individual)
  • Know and understand that we are created to love others (this explores an individual’s relationship with others)
  • Know and understand that we are created to live in community, local, national and global (this explores the individual’s responsibility and relationships with the wider world)

Heart

  • Explore Christian values through the school virtues- love, kindness, courage, respect, confidence, resilience, and faith, love of learning, respect and forgiveness in living their faith and apply them to their lives.
  • Foster curiosity and creativity about the world around them to ask questions and feel secure to share ideas and thoughts in a culture of respect.
  • Develop a sense of respect for themselves and others.
  • Develop a sense of identity and understanding of British values within a multicultural society.
  • Learn life skills which will allow them to become the whole unique person that they were created to be by God.

Hand

  • Understand how to live out their faith to develop themselves, others and the world around them.
  • Demonstrate a sense of self-worth through their own faith experience and as part of a wider faith community.
  • Use their virtues to be a responsible and respectful citizen in a variety of situations and relationships.
  • Have the desire to engage and work together with others to make the world a better place to live in for all.

Implementation:

A clear and comprehensive scheme of work in line with the National Curriculum and Diocesan guidance where teaching and learning should show progression across all key stages through the Life To the Full Ten Ten Plus will be delivered.

    • Skills and knowledge will be delivered through a weekly half hour lesson using Life to the Full Ten Ten Plus following a specific learning sequence which builds on prior knowledge and skills.
    • Assessment will take place at the beginning and end of a topic.
    • Children will have access to key language and meanings in order to understand and readily apply to their written and verbal communication of their skills.
    • Children will reflect on previous learning and cross curricular links will be made wherever possible.
    • Children will use a range of resources to develop their knowledge and understanding that is integral to their learning and further develops their understanding of RSHE

Impact:

The impact of our RSHE curriculum is that each child learns more, knows more and remembers more so that they reach their full potential in this curriculum area.

    • Children will retain knowledge that is pertinent to RSHE with a real life context.
    • Children will use the knowledge and skills gained to become positive role models to others through their citizenship.
    • Children will be able to question ideas and reflect on knowledge.
    • Children will work collaboratively and practically to investigate and explore ideas.
